Submission Deadline: 1 November 2024
Thinking about submitting a play?
Please read below before you hit send!
Please remember that even though your play is short, it should still have a beginning, a middle, and an end. It should have good dialogue, appropriate action, and dramatic arc. With only ten minutes (or so) to tell your story, you'll want to keep set and prop requirements and cast number to a minimum.
To be considered, all scripts must
-
be written by female-identifying residents of Kansas or Missouri
-
use 12pt Times New Roman or Courier font
-
be presented in standard play format (monologues in paragraph format)
-
have numbered pages
-
be submitted as a PDF or Word document
-
feature a complete dramatic story line
-
be no more than 30 minutes in length
-
include a cover sheet that contains the name of the play, the name of the playwright, and contact information
-
include a synopsis
Plays with small casts and minimal production requirements preferred.
For consideration, email a copy your script to joyceslater20@gmail.com.
If your script is not selected for your submission cycle, it will be kept in our library and may be considered for a future production.
When you follow the above guidelines, you may assume about a minute per page, but reading your work aloud will allow you to double check the timing. (It will also help you catch typos and dramatic gaps, and see where dialogue could be improved.)
Remember that your play will be presented as a dramatic reading. If elaborate sets or effects are required, this may not be the venue for your script. Also, our space is limited, so please keep your cast small.
** PLEASE BE AWARE that if your script does not conform to the above guidelines,
it may be discarded without consideration. **
We look forward to reading your work. Now go write!
